Global market is not ruled by emotions, good or bad intentions, it is governed by clear rules, the demand and one’s ability to supply the best product. Ukraine’s poultry products have been the leading export item to Jordan for over 10 years earning a remarkable reputation and no complaints. Thus, we would like to call on all parties involved in the recent campaign disparaging the reputation of Ukraine to cease futile and unconstructive attempts and return to the practices of fair market competition. The Ukrainian side can’t understand the current biased trend of this specific selectiveness towards its national exporters, among other even larger poultry exporters to Jordan.

Strict adherence to the rules, non-discrimination and equal opportunities to all exporters have been always a visiting card of Jordan. We rely on the principled position of the Government of Jordan and sincerely thank those Ministries and trade institutions who immediately reacted to the situation and demonstrated their objectiveness and impartiality.

Ukraine is well known all over the world as a reliable producer of food products that complies with all international standards and requirements. Poultry traditionally plays a significant role in Ukrainian foreign trade activity. Within last 20 years our State has turned from the biggest poultry importer in the world to the one of the biggest exporting countries. With 3.6% of the global poultry meat trade Ukraine occupies the 6^th place in the global top rank.

Last year we exported 414 thousand tons of poultry to the European Union (among TOP 3 suppliers), Middle East (mostly to Saudi Arabia – 16,6%, Iraq – 5,8%, UAE – 5,6%, Egypt – 2,5%) and the CIS. In 2019 we produced 1,4 mln tons of poultry, in 2020 we expect this number to grow by 8,6% and reach 1,45 mln tons.

Geographical diversity and the global scope of Ukrainian poultry exports serve as an irrefutable proof that we in Ukraine adhere to the highest standards and certifications. Ukraine exports poultry to more than 100 countries. Some of the major importers are the EU and GCC countries - export destinations known for its stringent standard demands and due diligence.  

Food safety management system in Ukraine is implemented, assessed and certified in accordance with the requirements of the world standard BRC (Global food safety standard) and the HALAL standard at enterprises-exporters of finished poultry meat products.

Ukraine adheres to a consistent policy of full transparency based on the international obligations of the WTO and in accordance with the high quality requirements of the EU. The State Consumer Service of Ukraine regularly reports to the OIE (World Organization for Animal Health) informing it about every aspect or minor changes in the epizootic situation in Ukraine.

The introduction of advanced technologies created the right infrastructure for achieving high quality and safety of poultry meat production in Ukraine. One of the leading producers and exporters of poultry meat in Ukraine, Myronivsky Hliboproduct agroholding, now exports poultry farming and poultry processing technologies worldwide and primarily to the EU, which attests to the level of diligence Ukraine approaches the safety of its export destinations with.

The relevant state authorities of Ukraine constantly monitor all enterprises producing poultry meat. As a result, the high quality and safety standards of poultry meat have already become the "business card" of Ukraine's exporters, letting them prosper on the global market and constantly expand worldwide.

Ukraine as well as Jordan has a long track record of high standards in export control and products certification and will not allow to be mired in the attempts to cast a shadow on its high reputation as a trustworthy and reliable partner for the Middle East and North Africa.
