I will not be telling you a lot about the book itself, because no one can do it better than the author.

So, I will let Mr. Armouti to present you the first edition of his book with title “Important stages of Jordanian-Ukrainian relations” by himself, and I will tell you about the preconditions of its creation.

In 2017 we celebrated 25^th anniversary of establishment of Ukrainian-Jordanian diplomatic relations which happened in April 1992 – almost right after Ukraine gained its independence. And in 2018 there was 15^th anniversary of Ukrainian Embassy in Jordan – it was opened in 2003. From the very beginning Ukraine and Jordan were reliable partners with strong willing to develop their cooperation in all fields. So, the last 27 years witnessed a lot of progress and significant achievements which were worth to be saved on the paper. 

Therefore, we started this fundamental project with our good friend Mr. Omar Armouti, who at that moment was already acquainted with Ukraine as he participated in the press-tour to our country and had the possibility to see it by his own eyes.

Besides, for that moment we have already got a positive experience with Mr. Omar – two of his published books contained essential chapters about Ukraine and activity of Ukrainian Embassy in Jordan: “Ambassadors of the World speak from Amman” and “Encyclopedia of Amman”.

So, we had no doubt that our new book will be written in very professional way and will show the long path of formation and further development of relation between our two countries.

Almost one year our diplomatic team has been supporting the author by gathering, sorting and managing the material, editing the drafts, selecting the pictures and explaining the chronology of events in order not to miss any important detail and show the complete history of the partnership between Ukraine and Jordan. The result of hard and thorough work of Mr. Armouti and the Embassy makes us proud of what we’ve achieved.

By the way, a lot of Ukrainian and Jordanian personalities, starting with the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and His Majesty King Abdalla II, are mentioned in the book as the ones who contributed into strengthening and deepening of Ukrainian – Jordanian relations, so it makes it even more special and interesting.

And Mr. Sami is also mentioned in the book and many other officials of two countries.

For the first time the book was presented to the journalists during the press-conference dedicated to the 27^th anniversary of independence of Ukraine in August 2018.

On December 3^rd we organized the solemn event to present the book to the wider audience of Jordanian officials, diplomats, journalists, representatives of scientific and cultural elite.

Till today we have already handed the samples of this book to Prince Faisal bin al-Hussein, Princess Basma bin Talal, some ministers, diplomats and top public persons in Jordan and Ukraine, sent them to the main governmental and educational institutions, libraries, regional administrations all over Ukraine. In close future we are going to spread this book among such institutions in Jordan, as well as organize a series of presentations in all cities and places which were mentioned on its pages.

We are happy with what we’ve done. I am grateful to everyone who participated in creation of this historical publication – either by contributing to the development of bilateral ties between two countries and giving us materials to be memorized in the book, or by taking part in its edition and publication.

Today we can dedicate this presentation to 27^th anniversary of Jordanian Ukrainian diplomatic relations.
