Your Excellencies, Dear Colleagues, It is my honor and sadness to announce that one of our friends–Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Jordan – Sabir Aghabayov- the most experienced diplomat of our society in Jordan has completed his mission in the Kingdom and will be returning to his country. He began to work in Arab countries in Aden in 1971 when majority of us where in kindergardens or in schools. His Excellency Sabir Aghabayov began working in the Diplomatic sphere in 1976. During successful career he worked in Pakistan, Turkey and 11 years in Syria, two of them in 1989-1990 as a Soviet Consul-General in Aleppo. He was Azerbaijan ambassador to Morocco for six years (and non-resident Ambassador to Portugal, Gambia, Senegal, Mali and Tunis) and representative to ISESCO.
Mr. Sabir arrived to Amman on September 1, 2012. On September 2nd he presented the Copies of Credentials and on September 3rd Credentials to H.M. King Abdulla II. I have met him in my residence immediately after his arrival to Amman and we’ve become close friends ever since. We have been through many important activities, cooperated in order to promote relations between our two countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Sabir has spent five and a half years of his career in Jordan. He has become one of the most active ambassadors in Amman and organized exchange of high-level visits between Republic of Azerbaijan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He established close, friendly relations with many top officials, diplomats, business and regular people. Sabir Muallim added good impulse for development of Azerbaijani Society in Kingdom.
His efforts also resulted in naming one of squares in Amman after late Azerbaijani president Heydar Aliyev. Sabir Aghabayov also co-authored with famous historian and writer Omar Armouti some books dedicated to the bilateral relations between the two countries. Among these books are: “Ambassadors of the World speak from Amman” which is the set of interviews with heads of diplomatic missions and a book “Important stages of Jordan-Azerbaijani relations” which just printed and you can see it here.
Tonight our friend with Mrs.Samaya will be leaving for Baku. We will miss them here, but I know that his Foreign Ministry will receive back knowing expert with vast regional and global experience to serve his country. Dear Sabir Ahy, I wish you every success and hope to meet (meeteyn marra) in our happy future.
