Your Royal Highness, Princess Basma Bint Talal,
Dear Friends, Colleagues and Distinguished Guests,
I appreciate the opportunity to welcome you at this year’s Annual Diplomatic Bazaar which is held under the patronage of my esteemed friend Her Royal Higness Princess Basma bint Talal and guidance of Mrs. Dalya Dahdaleh – and it permanently means success.
Since its establishing in 1958 Mubarrat Um Al Hussein Centre has been performing the noble task of caring for boys who live in extremely difficult conditions. It has become a home for hundreds of children of numerous generations who became a united family. Members of this family care and support each other through years living their adult lives.
For more than 50 years diplomatic missions accredited to Jordan have been supporting the activities of Mubarrat Um Al Hussein in particular by holding the Annual Diplomatic Bazaar: the proceedings of this event go to supporting its noble mission.
Today we continue this long established custom and welcome the efforts of all participants, and Ukraine being one of them, who are joining their efforts in the celebration of cooperation, warmth of our souls, diverse ideas, culture and traditions, which will attract thousands of visitors.
I would also like to take this opportunity and use one Ukrainian tradition: presenting to Your Royal Highness Ukrainian bread (we call it Palyanytsya) with salt. This tradition goes back in centuries and serves as an invitation to join the friendly family table. This bread was prepared from Ukrainian flour we also used Ukrainian salt and oil. And I want to attract your attention to the fact that our country has become one of global leaders in exporting these products. That is why some of Jordanian businessmen are half-jokingly call us Umm Zait – Mother of Oil.
I would like to thank again the organizers of this event and especially always smiled and sunny staff of Her Royal Higness Office. We invite our guests to visit the pavilions prepared by the esteemed diplomatic missions and feel the taste of diverse customs and traditions.
Thank you.
