The situation in the conflict-affected areas of Donbas remains extremely tense. The armed provocations by the combined Russian-terrorist forces are registered on a daily basis.
On 1-7 July 2016, Ukrainian servicemen were shelled 415 times by Russian-terrorist forces. At least 25 Russian UAVs conducted reconnaissance activities in the Anti-terrorist operation area, 3 of them took off from the Russian territory.
Over the last 24 hours 2 Ukrainian military were killed and 4 were wounded.
Russia regularly provides its puppets with military hardware and manpower. On 1-7 July 2016, Ukrainian intelligence registered 6 cases of illegal Russian military equipment supply to Ukraine through uncontrolled sections of the Ukrainian-Russian border. Russia has illegally sent to Ukraine at least 15 tanks, 4 armored combat vehicles, more than 350 tons of ammunition and 1600 tons of fuel.
Thus, the issue of the uncontrolled border remains critical for the prospects of the peaceful resolution in Donbas. It must be resolved to pave the way to de-escalation.
Russian troops and Russian-backed terrorists continue relocating heavy weapons which are to be withdrawn under the Minsk agreements along the contact line. In particular, on 1-7 July, Ukrainian intelligence registered 51 MLRS "Grad" returned back to the contact line nearby the settlements of Horlivka, Debaltseve, Kremenets, Polove, Stakhanov and Olenivka.
A comprehensive ceasefire and implementation of security provisions remains a basic precondition for any progress on other aspects of the Minsk agreements.
