On May 18, on the Remembrance Day of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people on the building of the Embassy of Ukraine in Jordan, the state flag of Ukraine was laid off in honor of those who suffered from the deportation of 1944 and the subsequent persecution of the Crimean Tatars.
In addition, a memorial event was held at the Embassy with the participation of the Ukrainian community in Jordan, during which the attendants were acquainted with the chronology and figures of the tragic events that the indigenous population of the Crimean lands faced from the totalitarian Soviet regime, and than from its successor.
Representatives of the Ukrainian community together with the Embassy staff paid tribute to victims of persecution against the Crimean Tatar and other peoples of Crimea by a minute of silence.
