Cooperation in the information field

Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on mutual protection of classified information (signed 14.03.2011 p., entered into force on 10.01.2012).

Cooperation Program between Ukrainian National Information Agency “Ukrinform” and Jordan News Agency “Petra” (signed 16.04.2012 p., entered into force on the date of signature).

A major event of bilateral cultural cooperation was the preparation and running of Jordan channels “First Jordan Channel” and “Roya” showed TV programs about Ukraine and celebrating Christmas in Ukraine, which has been produced with assistance of Ukrainian diplomatic mission and was aired in January, February and August 2013. In transmission were presented dishes of Ukrainian cuisine, national traditions and clothing in Ukraine.

In 2018 Ambassaor of Ukraine participated in program “Jordan through their eyes”on the Central «Jordan TV» Channel, where Ambassadors of different countries in Amman told about heritages sites of the Kingdom. The Head of Ukrainian Diplomatic Mission retold about renaming street after Taras Shevchenko in Jordanian capital, creation and development of Ukrainian-Jordanian Friendship Park, which is located next to the Great Kobzar street, where the Embassy of Ukraine is located. Dr. Sergiy Pasko also visited with journalist the Baptism Site on the Jordan River and described the significance of the Holy Place for all Christian pilgrims, including from Ukraine. On July 1st, 2018 the first program “Jordan through their eyes” was shown on Jordanian TV. Then it was published on the Embassy’s official website and on pages in social networks.

With the aim to promote the tourist sector of the Kingdom, Jordanian authorities regular organize press tours for foreign media representatives, in particular, in 2015 and 2016 two delegations of Ukrainian journalists visited Jordan. They represented Ukrainian leading TV channels, printed and electronic newspapers and magazines. Also there were separate visits of reporters and operators of the TV channels “1+1” and “Inter”. They filmed stories about the tourist destinations of the Kingdom, the maintenance of Syrian refugees, and how Ukrainian community lives in Jordan.

Ukrainian Embassy also promote tourist sector of Ukraine among citizens of the Kingdom and organized with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine the 11 days press tour for representatives of leading Jordanian mass media in August-September 2017. After press tour Ukrainian diplomatic mission provided broadcasting of video and publication of articles about Ukrainian tourist sites, historical monuments, economic and investment potential, culture and traditions in Jordanian media.

Jordanian journalists published: in central newspapers - 2 articles and in electronic newspapers - 6 articles about interviews with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine A.Zayats; in the Internet news agencies - 15 stories about Ukraine, in YouTube uploaded 16 videos about Kyiv, Cherkasy region and Odessa; 4 videos about interview with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine A.Zayatsa were broadcast on the central TV channel “Jordan TV”. Also 15 minutes video story about T.Shevchenko was shown on the TV channel "Jordan TV" in January-February 2018. Meanwhile, Ukrainian media published 30 news about Jordanian journalists’ visit to Ukraine.

In 2017 the Embassy provided assistance to the representative of “Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism” R. Sabbakh during her visit to Ukraine, where she participated in the 9th IX Ukrainian National Conference of Investigative Journalists with title “Investigative Journalism in the Age of Open Data and Information Warfare: Opportunities and Challenges”.

With the aim to intensify information cooperation, the Ambassador of Ukraine regular holds meetings and talks with Minister of State for Media Affairs, Spokesman of Jordanian Government Mohammad Momani and leadership of the leading media, in particular with the Director General of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation Firas Nseir, Director General of the Jordan News Agency “Petra” R.Rawashdeh, Editor-in-chief of the "Jordan Times" newspaper Samir Barhoum, leading journalist of the “Al-Ra'I” newspaper and editor of the publication “Al-Raya Al-Kashemia” S.Khattab. Diplomats kept contacts with journalists from “Jordan TV” Channel A.Aldibei and I.Arabiyat, correspondents of the “Al-Ra'I” newspapers T.Hmaidi, “Petra” M.Shboul, Editors of the Internet web-site “Amman Newspaper” A.Jadalla and “Eyas News” E.Shaban.

During 2018 Jordanian journalist, writer, historian, member of the Jordanian Writers and Literatures Union Omar Armouti had been writing a book "Important Stages of Jordanian-Ukrainian Relations”. The book dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries and the 15th anniversary of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Amman. In December 2018 the official presentation ceremony of the book was held. Well-known journalists, local officials and businessmen, representatives of the public organization attended the presentation.
