The singer performed with Syrian tenor Basem Alkour (pictured) and Lviv Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra under conductorship of Lerenzo Tazzieri (Italy).

The Concert, dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, was opened by an opening speech of the Ambassador of Ukraine in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Dr. Sergiy Pasko.

The diplomat proudly said that our Embassy in Amman is located on the street named after Taras Shevchenko, and the song «The mighty Dnieper roars and bellows» was translated into Arabic at his request in 2014.

The evening’s program, in addition to the Arab songs, featured masterpieces of the European opera classics - Georges Bizet, Giuseppe Verdi, Franz Schubert, Gioachino. The style of Zeina Barhoum, one of the best Jordanian opera singer, is characterized by a combination of opera classics with Arabic and Western European songs.

In Zeina Barhoum’s repertoire - the operatic roles of "La Traviata", "La Boheme", "Rigoletto", " Barbiere di Siviglia". In 2014 she released her first album «Alcantara» accompanied by the Orchestra of the Amman Conservatory.

Syrian tenor Basem Alkour has graduated from Damascus Conservatory. He often performs in Europe, singing mostly romantic and modern songs and operatic roles in opera directions. He captured Lviv citizens by singing the European opera classic masterpieces.

 The surprise of the evening was the song of Taras Shevchenko «The mighty Dnieper roars and bellows» which sounded for the first time in Arabic, which was performed by Zeina Barhoum. Also, Ukrainian Galician Chamber Choir sang together with the soloist. As soon as the first words sounded, the hall stood up and listened «The mighty Dnieper roars and bellows» standing. That evening Lviv citizens welcomed Jordan opera singer by flowers and storm of applause.

The concert in the Lviv Philharmonic Hall, which was organised with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Jordan, became an important event, not only made it possible to evaluate the talent of the East opera singers, but also to celebrate the important date - the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Jordan.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Dr. Sergiy Pasko said that after the meeting with the heads of Lviv region there have appeared some good prospects for economic cooperation between the two countries.
