On 07 October, 2010, Ambassador of Ukraine in Jordan Sergiy Pasko met in Amman with the Minister of Political Development of Jordan Musa Maayteh.
During the meeting the two officials discussed the development of internal political situations in both countries in the context of the upcoming local elections in Ukraine on 31 October and the parliamentary elections in Jordan on 09 November.
The head of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission briefed the Jordanian counterpart on the decision of Ukraine’s Constitutional Court declaring the Law of Ukraine “On Introduction of Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine” # 2222 from 08 December, 2004 unconstitutional. He also informed about the decision of the Ukrainian government to invite international observers to monitor the upcoming local elections. S.Pasko stressed that Ukrainian authorities voluntarily made such a step in order to demonstrate to the international community transparency and fairness of the electoral process in Ukraine.
M.Maayteh thanked for the provided information and expressed confidence that Ukraine would continue to provide the necessary conditions for development of democratic institutions inside the country and application of democratic norms and practices in all spheres of public life.
At the end of the meeting the two sides expressed mutual confidence in the irreversibility of the democratic changes in both countries.
