On 06 February 2011, Ambassador of Ukraine in Jordan Sergiy Pasko met with the mayor of Amman Omar Al-Maani for the purpose of discussing prospects of establishing sister city relations between Kyiv and Amman.

The Ambassador of Ukraine briefed the mayor on the Kyiv city and informed him about sister city relations between Kyiv and other cities of the world. He expressed the opinion about the desirability of establishing of the direct bilateral cooperation between the capitals of Ukraine and Jordan and proposed to sign a respective agreement between both cities.

In his turn, Omar Al-Maani expressed his readiness to sign such an agreement between Kyiv and Amman. As a fist stage, he proposed to exchange the visits of both cities’ officials for specifying the priorities in the bilateral cooperation. In this regard he invited the head of the Kyiv Municipal State Administration Oleksandr Popov to pay a visit to Amman for establishing of the contacts between the Ukrainian and Jordanian capitals.
