The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan H.E. Myroslava Shcherbatiuk held a meeting with the Head of the Group of friendship with European countries within the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Jordan H.E. Khaldoun Hina and representatives of the Group of friendship. The meeting took place in the House of Representatives upon the official invitation of the Head of the Group of friendship H.E. Khaldun Hina.
Both sides underscored that bilateral dialogue between Ukraine and Jordan at the present stage is dominated by the positive momentum, emphasizing particular interest in deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, economic and investment fields. Against the background of the economic and socio-economic consequences of the global pandemic COVID-19, food security is becoming critical to the security and stability of each state. In this regard H.E. Ambassador Myroslava Shcherbatiuk signaled that Ukraine stands ready to become an active contributor to Jordan’s food security, the point that was underscored by H.E. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in the course of a phone conversation with His Majesty King Abdullah on April 13 this year. On this subject both sides alluded to the importance of intensifying practical joint work in order to implement a number of promising projects in this area.
The Ambassador also thanked the Head of the Group of friendship and the House of Representatives for Jordan's consistent and unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders. In this regard, parties stressed the importance of common values and positions of the two countries on fundamental international political issues at the present stage and the need to strengthen coordination within international organizations.
The two sides agreed to continue active dialogue that will allow effective use of inter-parliamentary diplomacy in practical implementation of priorities of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Jordan identified by His Excellency President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and His Majesty King Abdullah II.
