Ukraine participated in the 38th European Film Festival in Jordan with the screening of the Ukrainian film “U Are the Universe”, directed by Pavlo Ostrikov.

The screening attracted considerable interest and brought together a large Jordanian audience, as well as representatives of the diplomatic and cultural communities and guests of the Jordanian capital, Amman.

Before the screening, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Myroslava Shcherbatiuk addressed the audience, emphasizing the particular significance of Ukraine’s participation in the European Film Festival at a time when the country continues to resist Russia’s full-scale war of aggression.

The Ambassador noted that despite the war, air raids and power outages, Ukraine continues to create films, books, music and works of art, stressing that Ukrainian culture remains alive, vibrant and open to the world.

The story behind the production of “U Are the Universe” is itself a powerful example of the resilience of Ukrainian culture. Conceived before the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the film was completed during the war despite air raids, power outages and several members of the production team joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The screening offered Jordanian audiences an opportunity to discover a remarkable example of contemporary Ukrainian cinema and was met with strong interest and a warm response from those in attendance.
