As a part of celebration of the 205th anniversary of the Great Kobzar’s birth, the Ukrainian cultural festival "I Love Shevchenko" was held in the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The event was organized by the NGO "Ukrainian House in Jordan" with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in Amman and financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
After the greetings of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Jordan Serhiy Pasko and the President of the “Ukrainian House in Jordan”, Olga Zavidnyak-Otoum, the participants of the festival, according to the Ukrainian traditions of hospitality, handed a loaf of bread to the honorary guest.
To begin the celebration the Ambassador handed the honorary diplomas for a significant contribution to the spread of Ukrainian culture, the strengthening of Ukrainian-Jordanian relations and fruitful cooperation with the Embassy to Mrs. Valentyna Pylypenko, Mrs. Galyna Grygorieva and Ms. Vlada Lagoda.
More than 200 members of Ukrainian and Jordanian communities, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions of foreign countries, visited the festival dedicated to the works of the great Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko. From the stage of Zaha Cultural Center, where the celebration took place, the students of the “Ukrainian House” together with their teachers presented to the audience a new reading of the works of the Great Kobzar, combining the recite of poetry with dance, fine arts and music. The announcer of the event was the well-known poetess Victoria Brychkova-Abu Qadoum, whose poems about Taras Shevchenko, including set to music by Olga Zavidnyak-Otoum, decorated the festival.
At the end of the event, a special guest volunteer Mrs. Natalia Sychenko, who constantly supports the Ukrainian army and fighters who defend Ukrainian land was invited to the scene. The guest solemny handed to the Ambassador of Ukraine a national flag personally signed by the defenders of Ukraine.
The Embassy of Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to the President and members of the NGO "Ukrainian House in Jordan" for the extensive work on organizing, preparing and conducting the festival "I Love Shevchenko" and spreading Ukrainian culture on the Jordanian land.
