Your Excellencies, Dear Friends,
I am most excited to open today’s event – a Concert of Ukrainian poetry and music organized by the activists of Ukrainian Diaspora in Jordan, founders and leaders of Ukrainian Cultural Centre “Ukrainian House”. This concert is held within the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Establishing the Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Jordan. It is dedicated to the first anniversary of the Ukrainian House. And on November 9 we will mark the day of Ukrainian language and writing. I would also like to mention that UNESCO which is in charge of preserving the World’s cultural heritage possesses a tremendous music library of songs composed by every nation. Ukrainian department is the biggest there with 13 thousand 5 hundred songs. Next are Italians with 6 thousand authentic folklore songs.
Today we will listen to folk and author’s songs by a talented composer, Head of the Ukrainian House Olga Zavidnyak-Otum, poetry by Viktoriia Brychkova Abu-Kadum. When you listen to their compositions you feel like you are in Ukraine, our Motherland. I am very happy that Amman hosts such centre of Ukrainian culture, its melodic poetry. Leadership and activists of the centre constantly multiply our cultural heritage in Amman. Ukrainian House has become our genuine partner in holding various cultural and charity events in the Jordanian capital and other cities. Members of Royal Hashemite Family have commended activities and talent of the Ukrainian House. The house during its very short but active existence has received numerous Ukrainian and International awards, among them II degree award of the International competition “Taras Shevchenko Unites people” and others.
This centre has become a real home for many children who have the opportunity to study Ukrainian language, literature, dances and culture there.
