Pasko stressed the importance of having the Jordanian in Ukraine feel as if he’s in his own house, and it’s essential for the Ukrainian to feel that he’s in his country within the kingdom.

The Ukrainian Ambassador said in an interview with HALA's news that Jordan was among the first Arab countries to recognize the independence of Ukraine in 1991, where a convention for the diplomatic relations between Jordan and Ukraine in 1992 was signed.

He also pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah II has visited Ukraine in June 2012, as this visit received a huge welcoming and attention from the Ukrainian street, it also reflected the interest of His Majesty to empower the Ukrainian Jordanian relations.

He also explained that the Jordanian Ukrainian trade has witnessed an unprecedented rise during the 2011-2012 years, and recorded about $ 500 million, he added: "However, the crises and instability in the region, especially after the Russian aggression and occupation of Crimea in 2014, led to a reduction of trade exchange between Jordan and Ukraine to $ 150 million recorded in the 2015 ".

Pasko Justified the declining of trade exchange between the two countries is due to the security and political tensions in the Middle East, which closed most border crossings from and to Jordan, as the current events between Ukraine and Russia influenced the factories that were deported and their products were required in the Jordanian market, the most important were iron steel factories.

With regard to Jordan position from what happened in Crimea, Pasko said: "The Prince Zeid bin Raad representative of Jordan to the United Nations - at that time - supported the Ukrainian position in the issue of Crimea during his speech to the UN", noting that Jordan is one of the seven Arabic states in the United Nations voted on 27.03.2014 in favour of territorial integrity sovereignty of Ukraine, and proclaimed the importance of having control over its territory and to maintain its integrity.

As for the Syrian crises and it’s impact on Jordan, the ambassador said, the security in the kingdom is heavily influenced by the hosting of refugees, especially with all the news that are being traded on the existence of terrorist "Daesh" cells among the refugees who are languishing at the border between Jordan and Syria, which doubled the burden on Jordan in carrying Syrian asylum-seekers as well as from Yemen due to the ongoing war there.

He also mentioned that Jordan has become a sanctuary and a home to many of the refugees, he said, "This demonstrates the high level of generosity and hospitality enjoyed by the people of Jordan." 

And Pasko praised the international support for Jordan to help the country in carrying the burden of providing a shelter, stressing out that the support is not enough because of the situation that the kingdom is going through, in the light of the continued security tensions in the region and in Syria in particular.

Showing that His Majesty King Abdulla II, is a military man, and gave through his experience important directives to protect the Jordanian border, the ambassador stressed that he visited the Jordanian-Syrian border with a group of ambassadors to see the extent of protection enjoyed by the Kingdom and the Arab armies.

Pasko Prasied King Abdulla II role in n the fight against terrorism which has spread in recent times, noting that the Hashemite family and in all international forums, confirms that terrorism is not linked to the Islamic religion.

In the context of cooperation, The Ukrainian Ambassador has valued the role of the Mayor in Amman, Akel Biltaji in supporting the cultural exchange between Jordan and Ukraine through the many projects and cultural activities between the two countries, pointing out the establishment of the Jordanian Ukrainian friendship Park in Amman, and naming one of the streets of the capital Amman, as the Ukrainian Poet Taras Shevchenko.

The Ambassador noted to the Jordanian cultural days in Ukraine", which hosted a large number of Jordanian intellectuals and artists to display the Jordanian heritage in Ukraine and to exchange culture between the two countries.

On the tourism side the Ukrainian Ambassador to Jordan pointed out that Jordan has to continue promoting both the heritage attractions in the kingdom which is characterized by a common history.
